DEGJSP contributes to a CBD SBSTTA side event at the UN Nairobi on Responsible Biofuels and Beyond. Wednesday 19th May 2010

DEGJSP contributed to a side event organised by IUCN and WWF at the convention on biodiversity meeting at the UN complex Nairobi. The session entitled ' responsible biofuels and beyond, critical issues for the CBD agriculture programme of work' saw Sue Canney present briefly on the'Legislative, regulatory and planning frameworks for sustainable biofuels production in Sub Saharan Africa'. Sue emphasised the important role of new institutional arrangements such as PPP's, the contributions made to national policy processes and the need for much greater inter- ministerial coordination to implement the different aspects of legislation that will meet international sustainable biofuel production standards.
